Soap Making Instructional: Embedding a Soap Log (or Ribbon Shape) in a Loaf Mold

Embedding a Soap Log in Loaf Mold Finished Soap Log Loaf Soap

Step-by-step instructions on embedding a soap log (or you can substitute a Ribbon shaped embed) in a loaf mold. When using a Soap Log, be sure that the overpour soap (this would be the white soap in above photo) fills up the inside of the curl. You may have to tip the mold slightly while pouring to ensure that the soap seeps into the curled area. If you don't, you will end up with soap slices that look like the soap pictured below.

Soap failed to fill the entire Soap Log

It is VERY IMPORTANT that your overpour soap base is cooled down before pouring it over the embed. If too hot, the embed will melt into the overpour. Should this happen, don't despair. Simply re-melt the entire batch of soap (soap log and all) and reuse for another project.
